  • August 14: “Lafayette Cockades” family craft session at the Hampton Falls Free Library. Drop in at 4 or 6 pm to craft a Cockade to wear to all the Lafayette events! No signup needed. Cockades are the lapel pins of history. Learn more about Cockades with this video.

  • August 21: Adult book discussion of “Lafayette in the Somewhat United States” by Sarah Vowell at the Hampton Falls Free Library. Visit the library to borrow a copy and attend the book group to chat about Lafayette! You can also listen to this book with your HF library card on Hoopla or Libby, or purchase on Amazon. An interesting and sometimes funny account of Lafayette’s contribution to America. Great read!

  • August 25: “Liberty Loving Lafayette” with Dorothea Jenson, author and book signing at 1-4 PM. Dorothea is an engaging speaker, and expert on Lafayette’s history. You will never forget this afternoon at the Historical Society Museum, 45 Exeter Road. French refreshments and a special favor for all attendees.

  • August 28: "Lafayette and Human Rights” with
    Alan Hoffman at the HF Free Library, 6:30 PM. Alan has spoken all over the country about Lafayette and spent 3 years translating the journal of his Farewell Tour from 1824. Alan is the President of the American Friends of Lafayette. NO ONE knows Lafayette like Alan! Come here how Lafayette dedicated his life to human rights, a cause way ahead of his time. Sponsored by the NH Humanities. Free and open to the public.

  • September 1: 200th reenactment of Lafayette’s Tour!
    Actor Ben Goldman, recreating the Marquis de Lafayette, arrives by horse-drawn carriage in Hampton Falls, Hampton, and Greenland on his way to Portsmouth, just as he did on September 1, 1824.
    All the action is on the Town Common.

  • “Tea with the Marquis” at 8:00 AM

  • Lafayette Arrives at 9:00 AM
    Flag-waving welcome as Lafayette circles the Common in his horse-drawn carriage with the NH Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard! On the Common at 9:00 AM. Open to the public

  • Presentations at the Gazebo include Lafayette’s address to the crowd, dedication of the Lafayette Trail Marker, Proclamation read for “Lafayette Day in Hampton Falls.” Open to the public.

  • Military Salute by the NH SAR Color Guard and historic cannon salute by the Lafayette Artillery Company concludes the scheduled events. Stay for photos and to greet Lafayette!
